How to Clean a Bidet

Even though people were skeptical about it at first, they have warmed up to the idea over time. The only thing you need to figure out is how to clean a bidet. DOES A BIDET NEED CLEANING?

While it might seem like an awkward question, so many people have asked about it. Since the bidet helps clean one up, does it need to be cleaned? The answer is yes. Just like everything else around you, the bidet does get dirty.

The job of cleaning you up after using the bathroom is not sanitary is as much as the bidet works to make sure it is. To ensure that you can keep using it without worrying that there might be some dirt on the bidet, you need to ensure you to keep your bidet clean.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR BIDET

Now that we have ascertained that the bidet does need cleaning, the next thing you need to do is figure out how you will clean your bidet. Here are the different ways you can clean the bidet without an issue.

DAILY CLEANING

For daily cleaning, there is not much you will need to do. Since most of the bidet designs have a self-cleaning nozzle, all you have to do is set it to set the nozzle to self-clean then you are good to go.

If the seat looks like it needs a cleaning, get a soft cloth and wipe the surface of the seat. You can also use a little bit of vinegar for that extra freshness and kill any germs. Most bidets come with antibacterial components, making them super clean, but a little extra help won’t hurt.

If you want to use something stronger, you can use your dish soap on your cloth. Avoid any strong detergent or anything with ammonia, which can make the bidet malfunction. Once you wipe off the seat with the spay cloth, go back and wipe it again with a clean damp cloth.

MONTHLY CLEANING

While weekly cleaning will ensure the bidet stays looking clean and fresh, there are days when you will need to give it an even deeper clean. Here is how you go about your monthly cleaning;

• Remove the bidet seat and the lid and wipe them down using a cloth dipped in soapy water. Rinse the lid and seat down by wiping them with another cloth dipped in clean water.
• If you have a deodorizing filter with your bidet, take it out and clean it with a toothbrush, dish soap and water.
• Let everything dry before you reinstall them, then clean the nozzle using the self-clean method. You might want to manually clean the nozzle monthly just so you get all the dirt and build up out.
• Once everything has been reassembled, you can plug your bidet back and use it as usual.

SEMI-ANNUAL CLEANING

Another thing you need to realize with your bidet is there is a chance that there will be build-up in the nozzle pipe, especially if you use hard water in your area. As time goes by, the build-up will cause blockage in your nozzles, and they will not function well.

To help with this, you need to ensure you clean out your nozzles at least twice a year. Here is how you go about ensuring your nozzles stay clean.

•  Soak your nozzle in vinegar water. If your nozzle is detachable, take it out and soak it in a bowl of vinegar mixed with water for about two hours, then clean it with a mild detergent and a toothbrush before rinsing it. Vinegar will help deal with any build-up in the nozzle.
• Soak the undetachable nozzle in a vinegar bag. If your nozzle cannot get detached, you still need to ensure that you get out as much build-up as you can. Extend the nozzle, then unplug it, then tie a plastic bag with vinegar and water over the nozzle. Ensure that the nozzle is in the bag. Soak it for about 2 hours, then clean it out with the toothbrush. It will help get rid of any build-up on this nozzle as well.

HOW TO CLEAN OUT TOUGH STAINS

The bidet, just like other toilets, can get stained at times, and the stains are too hard to get out. You might be tempted to go very hard on these stains in such a scenario. To help you with this, all you have to do is get an all-purpose cleaner and spray it on the stain. You can also soak up a paper towel in vinegar or the cleaner and place them against the stain to loosen it.

Once the stain can easily come off, take out the soaked paper towels and clean your bidet as usual. Avoid using anything too tough because the abrasive might just damage your toilet entirely. An all-purpose cleaner will work perfectly with your bidet.

Since your bidet will be so close to your intimate areas, you need to ensure that it stays as clean as possible. Since there is not much to do, all you have to do is ensure all the components of the bidet are working properly and get rid of any dirt that might lead to a big stain in the future.
